Vintage Market Cottage Finds

This week we made a quick trip to my favorite vintage market in town. Vintage Peddler, and did a run through to see what was new this month. Things change so fast here that merchandise is constantly coming in and going out. I can always find a few things I love. I don't need anything big, but sure enjoy the inspiration and nabbing a few cute smaller items.

All the pieces worked together for a sweet May vignette on the farmtable. I keep this little spot changed up every few weeks, depending on the holiday or seasonal inspiration. I usually have the vintage ice cream bucket filled with seasonal faux flowers, with the large breadboard underneath. The breadboard gives me a surface to arrange smaller items for a cohesive look.

Small trays always get my attention and this paper mache Italian tray with a bird motif had to come home with me. I love to tuck a tray into a cabinet or shelf, or to corral other smaller items in vintage decor.

I found the white swirl gravy boat and it's just the right size for adding a white dish element to the Holiday Cupboard. This one isn't marked, but there are several companies that produced this similar china design. Perfect to display a card or piece of ephemera.

I found this adorable bird print lumbar pillow earlier this spring. As I've said, May is "bird month" for me. This one is setting on my white slipcovered chair in the hearth room with a yo-yo quilt made by my mother-in-law.

I grabbed up a few limed vintage clay flower pots too. You can never have too many old flower pots.

A few days later in search of some vintage white dishes I had seen, we made another market trip, and I found a few more fun vintage things.

A needlepoint pillow in black was an easy pick. I love using black as an accent in a neutral background space. I have a few other black background floral pillows so this will make a great addition to the small collection. It's in excellent condition. The pillow is setting in a chippy off white metal carrier which may hold plants, but also use as a tote for display.

A heavy iron topiary form fits perfectly into an urn I already have. I have a small pot of variegated ivy I'm hoping to train into it.

Real Majolica is so expensive, but I grab up cottage look Japanese pieces whenever I can find them. This may have been part of a "range set" from the 50's.

And here is the object of my recent obsession; English vintage white swirl dishes. They were manufactured by Johnson Bros. and Sheffield back in the 60's through 80's. My family had several sets of these, but somehow they got away from me over the years, so I'm trying to piece together plates at least for smaller family gatherings.

Here's my last post where I took you along to the vintage market.
You'll want to take a peek at all the great vintage spaces.

Hope you enjoyed seeing the few pieces of vintage cottage pieces I grabbed last week.

Have a great weekend, friends. The weather here is gorgeous!
