Vintage Linens in an Easter Vignette

Hello dear Friends, I'm so glad you came by today because I'm sharing a few ideas about using and displaying vintage linens in our decor. If you love "vintage", then you probably have at least a few pieces of old linens in your cupboard or cabinets. Old tablecloths, napkins, lace and embroidered pillow cases, quilts and tea towels are easy to find at flea markets and estate sales. Often after many years they are still in good shape, but may not be practical for daily use. So many are still pretty and can be used for a fun vintage vignette or display.

Today I'm out in the Garden Room on the farm table

with a sweet Spring and Easter display using old florist baskets

I have several vintage quilts that I love to use on my sitting room wicker pieces, and a few tablecloths that only come out during the holidays, but my favorite pieces are small and versatile tea towels. Many of them were lovingly embroidered and embellished with crochet and cross stitch and were used only for guests or holiday display.

I wanted to share how easy it is to add a fun little tea towel into almost any vignette. And since Spring is here and Easter is next weekend, I thought a vignette with an old florist basket would be the perfect spot for a kitchen or table centerpiece display. I have this on the table, but it would work on your kitchen counter or island for a quick and easy nod to Easter. I have a few old "paper church fans" and thought this one was particularly appropriate for Easter.

I have this little grouping on my farm table in the Garden Room. If you read my post from last week about vintage wicker florist/funeral baskets for Easter, you know I often use them for holiday and seasonal displays.

I like using a table runner or layering multiples on this farm table and also in my dining room to add a bit of color and texture. The base layer of fabric is actually an antique French drapery panel, topped with a stenciled burlap "grain sack". I wanted a neutral after Christmas, but since it's late Spring now's the time to brighten up the table with a lighter table runner.
