Gift Guide for the Interior Design Lover
If you are a design lover like me, and I think you might be, then I think you are going to love this gift guide.
I’m linking to some of my favorite design accessories that are timeless but are also on trend right now. I’ve even used these in some of my own projects, as you will see below.
If you have a design lover on your list, then you can’t go wrong with these gifts for the home. I’ve grouped them according to type, so check them out and see what appeals to you.

1) White Marble Home Decor
I always say, any design accessory in white marble has the ability to elevate a look and you know will stand the test of time. I have some of my faves linked below, like this tray I used in a client’s home to display her mother’s glassware.
In this client project, we used some white marble/wood decorative objects on the bookshelves.

2) Rattan, Wicker, Jute Home Decor
If these woven goods are not having a moment in the design zeitgeist right now, then I don’t know what is!
Not only did I spot and share my finds from Lightovation 2021 in June, with rattan and jute wrapped lighting seen at many different vendor showrooms, but at Highpoint Market in October, it was out in full force!
You can’t go wrong adding in some rattan, wicker, or jute decorative items these days. From furniture, like consoles, tables and chairs to mirrors and accessories, adding in a few of these pieces will keep you right on trend for 2022.

I mean, look at those cute animal heads and the rocking horse below! Sweet gift items for a child’s room or play space.

3) White Plaster Home Decor
I feel like white plaster is here to stay, especially since I first commented on how much I was seeing with lighting and decor in 2018. I purchased even more white plaster vases and bowls for my styling stash at Highpoint Market, for upcoming photoshoots.
I love this white plaster spiky planter used in one of my client projects.
I used this white plaster round table on a shoot this past year, as a plant stand by the fireplace. White plaster is like white marble, it goes anywhere with any kind of decor style.
Loving the white plaster lamps I saw at one vendor showroom at Highpoint Market this year.

4) Design Coffee table Books
I know it is hard to make yourself buy books when everyone is reading on a screen these days, but coffee table books have to be the exception!
One thing I always loved about my MIL’s round coffee table is how she surrounded the edge with coffee table books on art, travel, design, food, whatever interested her at the moment. It always attracted me to the table and felt very personal and special. I never failed to pick up one of the books and leaf through it, checking out what she was finding interesting.
I’ve always advised my younger clients who are in “collecting” mode, to buy a book from each vacation destination they travel to. You can stuff postcards, some pictures, special keepsakes and receipts within the pages and it will be a nice memory for you.
These below are great additions to any design lover’s library, I own some already and I’m hoping to get the rest for Christmas! :-)
I have books linked that came out this year from the “queen of home” on Instagram, Amber Lewis, the ever-popular Lauren Leiss and the Giannetti’s (the couple that makes upscale, rural, California farm life look sooo appealing).
My absolute favorite here is from Brian Paquette, as his aesthetic coincides so well with my own. I sometimes forget how much I love that masculine, simple earthy look as I’m diving into other projects that I also love and enjoy, but his book is simply delicious.
I know that the Disc Interiors book will be similar, so I’m waiting for Christmas to see if that one comes my way, but it is definitely on my list.
Both Corey Damen Jenkins and Christopher Kennedy are amazing designers and I so love and appreciate their style aesthetic, you just can’t go wrong with these pros!

5) Ginger Jars and Vases
Nothing decorates cabinet tops and bottoms like ginger jars. They often add much needed height in a decorative vignette and can be done in color and pattern to bring a lot to a space.
I used one tall ginger jar on each small console on this project recently, in the perfect shade of blue/green with a crackle finish.

Ginger jars and vases do well to fill open, low shelves on consoles too.

I have even more links for design accessories in these posts below, from decorative bowl filler, more books for styling coffee tables and bookshelves, and other beautiful objects. All links are up to date as of 11/19/2021. :-)
